Pharmaceutical synthesis
Molecular linker and precursor in selective O- or N-arylation and amidation routes to medicinally active compounds.
3-Aminopropan-1-ol · Propanolamine · 3-Hydroxypropylamine · 3-APOL
The simplest linear propanolamine: an amine at one end, a hydroxyl at the other, three carbons apart. That spacing makes it a favourite molecular linker in pharmaceutical synthesis and a chain extender in polyurethane and dendrimer chemistry. Supplied in drums and IBCs with COA and SDS.

3-Amino-1-propanol is a bifunctional molecule with two independently addressable sites, so it is used wherever a short, flexible three-carbon bridge is needed between a nitrogen and an oxygen centre — selective O- or N-arylation and amidation routes rely on exactly that.
Note the melting point: it sets near 12 °C, so drums stored in a cool warehouse will solidify and need gentle warming before transfer. Plan for a heated transfer line in winter conditions.
Molecular linker and precursor in selective O- or N-arylation and amidation routes to medicinally active compounds.
Chain extender and functionalising amine in polyurethane and poly(propyl ether imine) dendrimer preparation.
Neutralising amine in metalworking fluids, coolants and boiler-water treatment.
Intermediate for textile auxiliaries, emulsifiers and specialty esters.

3-Amino-1-propanol is registered under CAS number 156-87-6, EC number 205-864-4, with the molecular formula C3H9NO and a molecular weight of 75.11 g/mol.
It is widely used as a molecular linker in pharmaceutical synthesis, as a chain extender in polyurethanes and dendrimers, as a neutralising amine in corrosion inhibitor and metalworking formulations, and as an intermediate for surfactants and textile auxiliaries.
Its melting point is about 12 °C, so it sets in cool storage. Warm the drum gently and evenly before transfer; the material is unchanged once remelted.
Yes. It is classified as corrosive and causes severe skin burns and serious eye damage, so chemical goggles, gloves and ventilation are required when handling it.
Chelora Amines supplies 3-amino-1-propanol in 200 kg drums, 1000 L IBCs and 25 kg carboys, with a certificate of analysis and safety data sheet on every despatch.
