A secondary aliphatic amine supplied as a liquefied gas or aqueous solution, used as a solvent intermediate for surfactants, rubber accelerators and as the principal feedstock for dimethylformamide (DMF).
Dimethylamine (DMA) is a secondary amine in which two methyl groups replace two hydrogen atoms of ammonia. At room temperature it is a colourless, flammable gas with a strong fishy odour, and it condenses to a liquid under mild pressure or refrigeration.
The secondary nitrogen is a stronger nucleophile than a primary amine of similar size, which makes DMA the standard reagent for building N,N-dimethyl functionality — most notably dimethylformamide (DMF) and dimethylacetamide (DMAc), two of the most widely used polar aprotic solvents in industry.
Chelora Amines supplies dimethylamine as a liquefied gas for anhydrous routes and as an aqueous solution (typically 25–40% w/w) for surfactant and rubber-accelerator manufacture, with each lot released against a certificate of analysis.

Dimethylamine is flammable and corrosive to skin, eyes and the respiratory tract, and its vapours form explosive mixtures with air. Use flame-proof equipment, dedicated regulators for gas cylinders, chemically resistant gloves and eye/face protection during transfer or sampling.
Provide local exhaust ventilation, avoid breathing vapour, and keep well away from open flame, sparks and heat. Refer to the full Safety Data Sheet for exposure limits, spill response and first-aid measures before use.
Dimethylamine is used mainly as the feedstock for DMF and DMAc solvents, and as a building block for surfactants, rubber accelerators and pesticide intermediates.
Both. Chelora Amines supplies anhydrous dimethylamine as a liquefied gas under pressure in steel cylinders, and as an aqueous solution (typically 25–40% w/w) in drums or IBCs.
Anhydrous gas grade is supplied at a minimum assay of 99%. Aqueous solutions are supplied at agreed concentration bands, with custom concentrations available on request.
In sealed original packaging, in a cool, dry, ventilated area away from ignition sources, oxidisers and acids. Gas cylinders should be secured upright and protected from heat.
Yes. It is flammable and corrosive, and vapours can form explosive mixtures with air. PPE, ventilation and flame-proof equipment are required — consult the full SDS before handling.
Yes. Every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis and Safety Data Sheet covering assay, moisture and physical properties.
