How strong a base is each amine?

Basicity decides how hard an amine neutralises acids. Taller columns mean a stronger base (higher pKa of the conjugate acid). Strong bases work well as acid scavengers and neutralisers; milder ones suit pH-sensitive formulations and catalysts.

Mild base, pKa below 8 Medium base, pKa 8 to 10 Strong base, pKa above 10

Values are approximate at 25 °C. Not sure which base fits your process? Ask our team.

Storing amines through Rajasthan's seasons

Desert heat, monsoon humidity and cold winter nights each call for different care. Always follow the SDS supplied with your batch.

April to June

Summer heat

  • Temperatures often pass 45 °C, so store volatile amines in shade below 30 °C
  • Isopropylamine and trimethylamine can build pressure, so open drums slowly
  • Unload early morning or evening, not at midday
  • Check closures after long, hot journeys
July to September

Monsoon humidity

  • Keep drums tightly closed, since amines absorb moisture and CO₂
  • Raise drums off wet floors on pallets
  • Protect labels and batch paperwork from rain
  • Check bunds and drains around storage
December to February

Cold desert nights

  • Triethanolamine, diethanolamine, TIPA and fatty amines can thicken or solidify
  • Warm drums gently with a drum heater, never an open flame
  • Allow extra time before unloading on cold mornings
  • Keep hoses and pumps clear of solidified product

Protective equipment

  • Nitrile or neoprene gloves
  • Splash goggles and face shield
  • Organic vapour respirator

First aid

  • Skin: flush 15 minutes
  • Eyes: irrigate 15–20 minutes
  • Inhaled: move to fresh air
  • Swallowed: rinse, do not induce vomiting

Fire and spills

  • Dry chemical, CO₂ or alcohol-resistant foam
  • Absorb spills with sand or earth
  • Keep out of drains and water

Paperwork

  • Correct HSN codes for GST
  • End-use paperwork flagged at quotation
  • COA and SDS with every dispatch

Products and uses

Which amines are used as cement grinding aids?
Triisopropanolamine, triethanolamine and diisopropanolamine are the most common. TIPA tends to help later-age strength while TEA helps early strength, so many grinding aids blend them.
Which hardeners suit marble and granite resin work?
Isophorone diamine gives clear, non-yellowing cures, while triethylenetetramine and diethylenetriamine cure faster at room temperature. The choice depends on your resin system and working time.
Which amine is used to make cationic guar?
Trimethylamine is the raw material for the quaternary cationising reagents that react with guar and starch to make cationic grades.
Which amines are used in mineral flotation?
Fatty amines such as dodecylamine, octadecylamine and oleylamine act as cationic collectors, especially for floating silica and silicates in reverse flotation. Dosage depends on ore and water chemistry.
How should volatile amines be handled in a Rajasthan summer?
Isopropylamine boils at 32 °C and trimethylamine is a gas at room temperature, so both need cool, shaded, closed storage. Open drums slowly, earth all equipment and unload outside the hottest hours.
What does "TEA" or "DEA" mean on an enquiry?
The abbreviations are ambiguous. TEA can mean triethylamine or triethanolamine, and DEA can mean diethylamine or diethanolamine. Please write the full name and CAS number on your enquiry.

Ordering

Which grades, packing and documents are available?
Most major products come in Commercial, LR and AR grades. Packing is in HDPE drums (25 L and 200 L) and IBC totes (1000 L), with cylinders for gaseous amines and tankers for monoethanolamine. Each dispatch carries a COA, MSDS/SDS, HSN code details and packing information.
How do I request a quote and what is the minimum order?
Open the contact us page and share the chemical's full name, grade, quantity, packing and delivery city. Minimum quantities depend on product and packing, and we usually respond within 24 hours. You can also read about us.
