Most problems with imported chemical supply are not chemistry problems. They are specification mismatches that surface at goods-in, documentation that does not satisfy an auditor, and delivery dates that move after the order is placed. We have organised the way we work around those three failures rather than around a price list.
Our range in Albania covers five families: ethyleneamines, alkanolamines, chelating agents, phosphonates and chelated micronutrients. The sections below explain what each family does, where it is used and what you should state when you ask for a price. A consolidated reference table with CAS numbers follows, and the complete Chelora Amines product range is on the main site.
Ethyleneamines are polyamines built from repeating ethylene units, and the length of the chain decides how the cured system behaves. Ethylenediamine (EDA, CAS 107-15-3) is the shortest and fastest reacting, and it is also the feedstock from which EDTA and several other chelants are manufactured. Diethylenetriamine (DETA, CAS 111-40-0) is the general-purpose hardener for ambient-cure systems. Triethylenetetramine (TETA, CAS 112-24-3) buys a longer working time and gives a tougher, more chemically and water resistant network. Tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA, CAS 112-57-2) adds flexibility and fatigue tolerance and feeds corrosion inhibitor and lubricant additive chemistry. Aminoethylpiperazine (AEP, CAS 140-31-8) is the cyclic accelerator used to bring a slow formulation up to a workable cure speed without destroying pot life entirely.
In practice these products are bought for three kinds of work. The first is protective and industrial coatings, where an amine-cured epoxy film has to survive chemicals, abrasion, moisture or immersion. The second is adhesives and composites, from structural bonding to resin flooring and laminating. The third is as a chemical intermediate, feeding chelant manufacture, rubber chemicals, fuel and oil additives and corrosion inhibitor packages.
When you enquire, the single most useful number to give us is the amine hydrogen equivalent weight your formulation is built around, together with the colour limit you can accept and the temperature the system has to cure at. If you are still choosing between them, our guide to EDA, DETA, TETA and TEPA for epoxy curing sets out how cure speed trades against pot life and final toughness.
Alkanolamines carry both an amine group and an alcohol group, and that combination is why the same three products appear in gas treating, in metalworking, in construction chemicals and on a cosmetics bench. Monoethanolamine (MEA, CAS 141-43-5) is the standard amine for scrubbing acid gases and also appears in detergents and metalworking concentrates. Diethanolamine (DEA, CAS 111-42-2) is largely an intermediate, feeding surfactant and corrosion inhibitor chemistry. Triethanolamine (TEA, CAS 102-71-6) is usually the highest-volume of the three because it does several jobs at once: it neutralises acids, it stabilises emulsions, it protects ferrous metal in water-based systems and it is the classic cement grinding aid.
The largest single outlet in most markets is water-miscible cutting, grinding and forming fluid concentrates, which rely on alkanolamines for pH buffering and corrosion protection. Beyond that they go into cement and construction chemical blends, into corrosion inhibitor packages for closed heating and cooling circuits, into cleaning formulations, and into personal care and cosmetic products where triethanolamine adjusts pH and holds an emulsion together.
Two things are worth specifying when you ask for a price. The first is the colour grade, because cosmetic and fine chemical use generally requires a tighter colour specification than technical use. The second is whether you need a low-freeze quality: alkanolamines crystallise in cold storage, and an unheated warehouse will find that point faster than most buyers expect.
Chelating agents lock up metal ions such as calcium, magnesium, iron, copper and manganese so that they cannot precipitate, catalyse unwanted oxidation, waste an oxidiser or discolour a formulation. EDTA acid (CAS 60-00-4) is the free acid form, used where sodium content has to stay low. Disodium EDTA (CAS 6381-92-6) is the grade that cosmetic, food-contact and pharmaceutical formulators specify. Tetrasodium EDTA (CAS 64-02-8) is the high-pH workhorse for detergents, bleaching and boiler water. DTPA and pentasodium DTPA (CAS 67-43-6 and 140-01-2) bind iron and manganese considerably more strongly, which is why they are used where transition metals would otherwise destroy a peroxide bleach before it reaches the substrate.
The applications fall into a few recognisable groups. Industrial and institutional cleaning uses chelants to hold hardness and dissolved metal in solution so that surfaces come clean and baths last longer. Metal finishing, surface treatment and plating use the same chemistry to keep deposition clean and extend bath life. Pulp, paper and textile processing use the stronger chelants to manage transition metals ahead of a bleaching stage. Food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulation uses disodium EDTA as a stabiliser, and water treatment uses chelants wherever scale and metal fouling have to be controlled.
Where a formulation or a bath is being moved towards lower-impact chemistry, tetrasodium GLDA (CAS 51981-21-6) and trisodium MGDA (CAS 164462-16-2) are the two readily biodegradable alternatives we are asked for most often. Both work across a wide pH range and both are available in trial quantities, so a substitution can be validated on one line before it is adopted everywhere. For high-purity applications, ask for the assay and the heavy-metal limits on the batch certificate before you order.
Phosphonates are threshold inhibitors, which is the reason a circuit holding thousands of cubic metres can be protected with a few parts per million. They interfere with crystal growth rather than sequestering hardness stoichiometrically, and most of them protect steel surfaces at the same time. HEDP (etidronic acid, CAS 2809-21-4) is the general-purpose choice and also stabilises peroxide. ATMP (CAS 6419-19-8) is the standard cooling water and reverse osmosis antiscalant. DTPMP (CAS 15827-60-8) is the one to reach for where barium and calcium sulphate scale is the risk. PBTC (CAS 37971-36-1) holds up where water is hard and temperatures are high, and EDTMP (CAS 1429-50-1) covers textile processing and metal cleaning as well as scale control.
The users are cooling circuits and cooling towers, boiler houses and steam systems, reverse osmosis and membrane plants, closed heating and chilled water loops, district heating networks, and the cleaning programmes that service all of them. In most markets the material is bought by water treatment service companies and blending houses rather than by end users directly, because an inhibitor programme is formulated to the water rather than taken off a shelf.
We supply the neat actives so that blenders can build their own programmes. When you enquire, state the active content you need and whether you want the free acid or the sodium salt form, because the two behave differently in a concentrate and the dosing calculation changes with them. If the application touches potable water, say so, because that affects which grades are appropriate.
Chelated micronutrients keep iron, zinc, manganese and copper available to a crop in conditions where the free ion would simply precipitate and be lost. The governing factor is almost always pH. Above roughly pH 7.5 an ordinary iron salt is locked up within days, which produces the interveinal yellowing that growers recognise as lime-induced chlorosis, and no amount of extra iron sulphate will fix it.
Iron EDTA (CAS 15708-41-5) is stable and economical in acid and neutral conditions, in foliar application and in soilless and glasshouse growing. Iron EDDHA (CAS 16455-61-1) is the chelate that still holds iron on calcareous and high-pH ground, which is why it is the standard correction in vineyards, orchards and lime-rich soils. Zinc EDTA (CAS 14025-21-9), manganese EDTA (CAS 15375-84-5) and copper EDTA (CAS 14025-15-1) address the other common deficiencies in cereals, maize, sugar beet, vegetables and blended foliar feeds, while calcium EDTA (CAS 62-33-9) and magnesium EDTA (CAS 14402-88-1) are used in specialty liquid fertilisers and in nutrient solutions for containerised and glasshouse growing.
Fertiliser blenders and growers should tell us the chelated fraction they need and the working pH of the soil or the solution, and for Fe-EDDHA they should state the ortho-ortho isomer content required, because that single figure does more to determine how long the iron stays available than the headline iron percentage does.
The table below is the consolidated reference list for everything described above: chemical name, CAS number and the applications we are asked about most often. If a grade you need is not shown, ask anyway, because the list reflects what moves regularly rather than the limit of what we can source.

We quote to a delivery address rather than to a region, so the practical questions are which gateway your site is nearest and how the final leg runs. These are the areas we are asked about most often.
Getting the route right is worth more than most buyers expect, because the inland leg can easily cost more than the difference between two suppliers' unit prices. We choose the gateway after we know the delivery postcode, not before.
Durres is the principal cargo port and the usual discharge point, with Vlore and Shengjin available for the south and north. Because direct deep-sea calls are limited, many consignments discharge at an Italian or Greek port such as Bari, Trieste or Thessaloniki and cross on a short Adriatic feeder, which generally gives better sailing frequency. Albania sits outside the EU customs territory, so a full import declaration is required and we state the clearance route in the quotation.
Sea transit from the Indian west coast normally runs three to five weeks depending on the service and on whether the booking is direct or transhipped, with feeder legs adding further days. We state the expected window in the quotation rather than after the order, and customs formalities are completed before the vessel berths so the container is not sitting in demurrage while paperwork catches up.
Packaging follows the stage you are at rather than the size of your business. A 1 kg trial pack is for laboratory qualification. Drums for liquids and bags for powders cover pilot campaigns, seasonal programmes and maintenance stock. 1,000-litre IBCs suit regular liquid consumption and continuous dosing, and part-container and full-container loads suit high-volume production. Moving up the scale changes the cost per kilogram, not the specification.
Every consignment carries a batch-specific certificate of analysis, a safety data sheet and a technical data sheet, together with the commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin your customs broker will need. The safety data sheet is issued in Albanian. For high-purity applications, ask us to report the assay and heavy-metal limits for the specific lot on the certificate.
📋 Compliance note for Albania: Albania is outside both the European Union and the European Economic Area, so EU REACH does not apply here. National chemicals legislation governs instead. It is generally aligned with the EU approach to classification, labelling and packaging, and it carries its own registration or notification duties for substances and mixtures placed on the national market, administered by the national authority rather than by a European agency. Safety data sheets must be supplied in Albanian. Because the country also sits outside the EU customs territory, every consignment requires a full import declaration with correct tariff classification. A supplier offering an EU REACH certificate as evidence of compliance here has misread the market. Confirm the national registration position, the labelling requirements and the clearance route with our team before your first order.
Most disappointing supply relationships in this sector fail for the same handful of reasons, and nearly all of them are visible at the quotation stage if you know what to look for. Use this as a checklist when you compare offers, including ours.
⚠️ Important: Ethyleneamines such as EDA, DETA and TETA are corrosive and are classified skin sensitisers, and many chelants and phosphonates are eye and skin irritants. Sensitisation develops through repeated low-level exposure rather than a single incident, which is why routine handling deserves more attention than it often gets. Store each product exactly as its safety data sheet directs, keep amines segregated from acids and oxidisers in the store, provide gloves, eye protection and effective ventilation at the point of use, and make sure the safety data sheet is accessible to the people who actually handle the containers rather than filed in an office.
Many buyers use Chelora Amines as a chemical supplier agent rather than as one more line on the approved vendor list. The difference is practical: instead of running four supplier relationships, four sets of documents and four freight bookings, you run one.
In that arrangement we take responsibility for the parts of the process that usually consume your buyer's week:
India has become one of the principal global sources of specialty and performance chemicals, particularly in amines, chelating agents and phosphonates. For a European buyer the attraction is capacity, price and a willingness to supply qualification quantities and specialty grades that larger producers decline as uneconomic. The reservation is almost always documentation and continuity rather than the chemistry itself. That is precisely the gap we exist to close: European-standard paperwork, batch records that survive an audit, and one named contact who stays with the account between orders.
The same dispatch and quality network supports our buyers at home, as set out on our page for chemical suppliers in Telangana.
Albania is part of our wider European network, and buyers here frequently take delivery at sites across a border as well. See our chemical suppliers in Europe page for the full coverage, including the neighbouring markets below.
Chelora Amines is a leading chemical supplier in Albania for ethyleneamines, alkanolamines, EDTA and other chelating agents, phosphonates and chelated micronutrients. Every batch ships with a certificate of analysis, a safety data sheet in Albanian and a technical data sheet, and buyers can qualify the material with a 1 kg trial pack before committing to bulk.
The range covers ethyleneamines (EDA, DETA, TETA, TEPA, AEP), alkanolamines (MEA, DEA, TEA), chelating agents (EDTA acid, disodium EDTA, tetrasodium EDTA, DTPA, GLDA, MGDA), phosphonates (HEDP, ATMP, DTPMP, PBTC, EDTMP) and chelated micronutrients including Fe-EDTA, Fe-EDDHA, Zn-EDTA, Mn-EDTA, Cu-EDTA, Ca-EDTA and Mg-EDTA.
EDTA acid, disodium EDTA and tetrasodium EDTA are available from Chelora Amines in 1 kg trial packs, bags, drums or bulk loads. Each batch carries a certificate of analysis stating assay and key impurity limits, and higher-purity grades can be supplied with heavy-metal limits reported for the specific lot.
Yes. HEDP, ATMP, DTPMP, PBTC and EDTMP are supplied as neat actives in free acid or sodium salt form for scale and corrosion control in cooling circuits, boilers, reverse osmosis plants and closed heating loops. We supply the actives to blenders and water treatment service companies rather than finished programmes.
It depends on pH. Iron EDTA is stable and economical in acid and neutral conditions and in soilless growing. Above roughly pH 7.5 it begins to lose its iron, and on calcareous or high-pH ground iron EDDHA is the chelate that still holds. For Fe-EDDHA, the ortho-ortho isomer content matters more to field performance than the headline iron percentage.
Yes. A safety data sheet in Albanian is supplied with every batch, alongside the certificate of analysis and the technical data sheet, so it can go directly into your chemical register and your workplace documentation.
Goods are shipped from India to the gateway that best suits your delivery address, and road or rail completes the inland leg. We state the recommended routing, the expected transit window and the delivery terms in the quotation, and complete customs formalities ahead of arrival rather than after it.
Yes. A 1 kg trial pack lets your laboratory qualify the material in a real batch, after which you can move to drums, IBCs or full-container loads once the grade is approved.
Yes. Many buyers use Chelora Amines as a supplier agent rather than as one more approved vendor, which means we source and qualify the grade, verify the documentation, book the freight and the inland leg, consolidate shipments where the chemistry allows and plan repeat orders around your production schedule.
